McCain vs. Obama: Coming Soon…

Now that the Democratic primaries are finally over, we have two confirmed candidates for the Presidency of the United States.  (Of course, there are also a number of “third party” candidates as well.  But realistically, most will vote Republican or Democrat because even if they prefer someone else they’ll feel as though they’re wasting their vote.  But that’s another rant for another time.)

If there’s one thing I love about presidential election season, it’s candidates who promise things they know they can’t deliver.  Without Congressional support, a president by himself (as it apparently will be come January 20, 2009) really has little they can do for the country.  Well, outside of short-term warfare and edicts about government business - nothing that impacts the majority of everyday folks on an everyday basis.  My question is not if we will see such promises from both candidates, but rather, when and how frequently they will occur.

Regardless of whether or not I’m excited by a particular candidate, I’ll still vote - especially for a big November election like this one.  After all, if that cinematic epic Team America: World Police taught us anything, it’s that freedom isn’t free.
